Mission: Impossible?
Do your goals seem like a distant, almost unattainable objective? Have you heard from those around you that what you’re trying to achieve is impossible? One of the biggest hurdles you can face on your health and fitness is journey is the negativity and doubt from those closest to you. As previously mentioned, if you have developed your why you will find the motivation that you need when the negativity and doubt comes. To achieve this so-called impossible goal/objective, you need to break it down into smaller, more manageable goals that you can track. Doing this will allow you to be able to check off what you’ve already accomplished, helping you to see the steps that are left to achieve your goal. In breaking down your ‘impossible’ goal, there are some things you should keep in mind:
Take stock of your current situation – note what is helping you to achieve your goal, as well as what is hindering you
Look at the specific elements that are found within what you’re trying to achieve
Fat loss
Muscle gain
Completing certain exercises for a set number of reps/weight (e.g. full chin ups)
Have the aerobic capacity to complete a style of training
Give yourself a rough time frame for achieving the goal
This can help keep you focussed and on track
Talk to someone knowledgeable who can help you formulate a plan to get there
While making the plan, work out which steps you are going to take first, then second and so on
Make a commitment to yourself, to hold up your end of the arrangement
NEVER GIVE UP ON ACHIEVING YOUR GOAL, even if you do face obstacles
The work to complete your mission will not always be enjoyable. However, sticking with the program and committing to it will bring about an enjoyment in the results of the work. The fact of the matter is you will have doubters, but you must learn to block them out, and those who want to input with their negativity you must ignore them. They may try and tell you what you can and can’t do, but believe in yourself, in the systems that have been put in place by your support network and you will find that impossible is nothing but a word. You can and should take this same approach in all areas of your life. When you do, you’ll become a force to be reckoned with. DK
